Tai Chi for Seniors
Instructor Training Certification Program

October 30, 31 and November 1, 2009
10am-5pm each day

The purpose of this training is to provide quality Tai Chi teachers for the growing number of seniors partaking in Tai Chi. 

The course is taught by Dr. Aihan Kuhn.

Tai Chi Chuan, a classical Chinese exercise, has been used for centuries for health, wellness, and to assist in healing. It involves slow movements in circular motion that are beautiful, powerful and enhance the energy flow in the body.   It is also called an “internal energy exercise” or “walking meditation." 

Tai Chi for Seniors provides great health benefits, such as: improved posture and balance to help prevent falls, better circulation, improved metabolism, enhanced immune and neuromuscular functioning, as well as healing and prevention of illness. 

The New England School of Tai Instructor Training Certificate of Completion will be given at the end of this three day course.

Candidates and Ideal Participants: Anyone who would like to teach Tai Chi at senior centers, wellness centers, or other facilities with senior activities. Previous Tai Chi experience is recommended, but not required.

Tai Chi Benefits for Seniors: reduce stress, strengthen muscle, joints and bone, enhance energy and immune function, prevent falling, reduce blood pressure, and strengthen heart energy, delay aging, and much more.

You will learn:

  • The difference between Western Exercise and Chinese Exercise.

  • The benefits of Chinese exercise and Tai Chi practice.

  • The difference between Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

  • How to avoid injury during teaching and practice, contraindications of Tai Chi practice.

  • Extensive warm up exercises.

  • Tai Chi walking, for preventing falls.

  • Step by step learning “Tai Chi for Seniors”.
