Infertility Treatment FAQs

Chinese Medicine has been used for treating infertility for many centuries. It is an effective and safe methodology in natural healing.  Infertility Treatments are offered at both our Boston and Holliston clinic under the supervision of Dr. Aihan Kuhn.

How does it work?
Chinese medicine works on the body’s energy system (meridian pathways) it helps to balance the organs, nurture the organs including ovary and uterus. If there is blockage in the energy pathway, Chinese medicine treatments can break the blockages and allow the energy go through smoothly. Chinese medicine helps to regulate chemical pathways in the ovary, pituitary and hypothalamus, to bring the hormone chain to normal.

What is involved in thi healing?
The methods include acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, sometimes it can involve Tui Na therapy depending on the person's situation. In many cases, adding Qi Gong exercise can enhance the therapy. All of these can be used simultaneously to achieve optimal results.

Who are the right candidates for treatment?
Women who have been diagnosed with infertility who don’t have any anatomic or structural problem such as physical blockages in the fallopian tube, ovarian cysts, or double uterus, etc., or woman who have developed infertility after using birth control pill. Men who have a low sperm count, or poor quality of sperm, or some other male issue can be corrected also.

Is treatment safe?
Yes. There are absolutely no side effects. It brings a better baby too; because the treatment brings the body to a balanced state.

When to start?
You should start as soon as you are diagnosed.

How long and how often do I need to be treated?
Three months in general for woman. The first month with two treatments per week is to balance your body energy and internal organs; the next two months with three treatments per month is to stimulate ovulation. For man, it depends on what kind blockage he has.

What should I expect?
You may become pregnant during treatment in these three months; you may get pregnant after three months of treatment, even 3 to 6 months after treatment. But if you are anxious, you might be lessening the likelihood, because anxiety causes more blockages in the body’s energy pathways. So just relax, and let the treatments have their affect.

Can I use both western and eastern medicine in together?
Yes. Chinese medicine can help the patient not only by reducing the side effects of fertility drugs, but also by enhancing the effects of the western treatment. Some people use both medicines and some people just use Chinese medicine.
